Welcome to Gittyup's Forum, I hope your experience will be a pleasant one. It has been my experience that participation on Forums was a bit confusing and often times, downright difficult. It was not always simple and usually not very well explained. This is the most simple Forum platform that I have come across, although, like anything new, it takes some getting use to.
Just find the Category you are interested in, click on a particular Board or one closest to your topic. Click on New Thread, create a title and type your comment. Click on Create Thread, notice there is spell checker option, if you're like me, that's handy!
If you don't find a board to your interest just let me know the what category and subject you would like and I will create it for you. I'm here to help you! Experiment with the Forum, I think you will get the hang of it in quick order.
